Fish Table

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

I’ve been working on the design of this table for the last week. I’m thinking it’s close enough to done to at least present it for some feedback. Eventually I’ll add a cut list and assembly details like all of my other plans, but for now here is the SketchUp model. Enjoy!

Tower of Hanoi Puzzle

Sunday, June 4th, 2006

The Tower of Hanoi (also referred to as the Tower of Brahma) was invented by the French mathematician Edouard Lucas in 1883. He was inspired by a legend that tells of a Hindu temple where the pyramid puzzle was used for the mental discipline of young priests. The objective of the game is to move […]

Bathroom Wall Rack

Saturday, May 27th, 2006

Here is a very simple bathroom wall rack that can be built from standard dimensional lumber. No fancy joinery techniques are needed. Everything is simply screwed together with countersunk flathead wood screws. Rather than create a PDF file from CAD drawings, I decided to do some illustrated plans using SketchUp. The SketchUp file is available […]

Toy Bear Christmas Ornament Plan

This little toy bear is made from black walnut. The head and body are made from 3/8″ thick quartersawn stock, and the arms and legs are made from 1/8″ thick quartersawn stock. All parts are assembled using .125″ diameter by .625″ long spring/split pins. The pins combined with the tongue and groove joint between the […]

Christmas Sleigh Ornament Plan

Wednesday, April 19th, 2006

Here is another one of Fern’s great little woodworking designs. This one was introduced in 1986. Like most of his work, this sleigh uses different hardwoods to provide a natural contrast to the design.

Crosscut Trivet

Sunday, April 16th, 2006

Here are some plans for a crosscut trivet. What is a crosscut trivet you ask? Well, it’s a little device that effectively disperses heat to protect your countertop or table from hot dishes.
This has got to be one of the simplest woodworking projects around. The trivet is milled from a single piece of stock. You […]
